Trax Retail, one of the leading global providers of analytics and computer vision solutions for the retail sector, has reportedly introduced its store monitoring and intelligence solution named ‘Retail Watch’ in China.
Retail Watch helps grocery retail stores in automating in-store data collection and streamlining operations. The solution helps retailers to detect low inventory and out-of-the-stock shelves. The firm’s technology assures the availability of numerous products on the shelf for customers. The new offering will help stores in increasing revenue and offers timely, accurate data for improving supply chain replenishment.
Retail Watch is based on the foundation of the company’s proprietary computer vision and machine learning technologies. It is equipped with IoT-enabled shelf-edge and ceiling cameras, and autonomous robots to offer retailers ‘eyes in the store’. This real-time visibility of products is helping retailers streamline in-store data collection and operations.
Although the on-going COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted almost every sector across the world, it comes as a silver lining for the retail sector. People worldwide have preferred to shop online due to lockdown related restrictions. However, newly exposed out-of-stocks caused due to increased demand have hampered grocery retailers’ revenue. Deploying Retail Watch will help retailers tackle these challenges and more, setting them up for scalable, sustained success in the new normal.
Speaking on which, James Tang who is the President and General Manager, Greater China of Trax said that retail stores have been trying to tackle the persistent out-of-stock challenges with humans for ages, but manually gathered data is generally neither accurate nor frequent enough. Automated retail shelf conditions data measures what consumers are seeing in real-time and offers a third layer of insights to sales data and supplement inventory, he states.
Mr. Tang added that automated solutions are required for streamlining retailers' operational efficiency and accelerating consumer purchasing decisions, along with enabling retail store associates to focus on shoppers’ requirements.
