Tractor Supply Company, the biggest rural lifestyle retailer in the US, the Tractor Supply Company Foundation, and premium workwear brand, Carhartt, have reportedly announced the second year of the “Support the Trades” campaign to reduce the skilled trades gap in the country.
A Korn Ferry study recently cited the possibility that the ongoing talent shortage could create 85 million unfilled jobs and almost USD 8.5 trillion in unrealized revenues if not addressed by 2030. Another study by the Manufacturing Institute reveals that there will be around 2 million new manufacturing jobs that will open over the next decade.
Support the Trades merchandise is available at TractorSupply.com and in Tractor Supply stores. The 2022 collection has been designed by Carhartt and features long and short sleeve shirts in various colors and three different hats. This year, the products are made just for women.
For every sold item, a portion is donated to SkillsUSA, which serves students from schools and colleges preparing for careers in technical, trade, and skilled service occupations. Carhartt, the Tractor Supply Company Foundation & Tractor Supply Company have individually committed a USD 50,000 donation for a sum of USD 150,000.
Jeff Rietveld, Vice President, Tractor Supply, added that these firms are committed to reducing the trade skills gap. By purchasing the “Support the Trades” merchandise, users can join them to further the future workforce training.
SkillsUSA partners with teachers, professionals, and students to build a skilled workforce for the country.
Its framework laces students with the workplace, academic technical skills, and valuable industry connections. It covers one hundred and thirty job categories and creates opportunities for talented entry-level workers. With the help of the Support the Trades campaign’s donation, SkillsUSA can expand to assist even more students.
Chelle Travis, SkillsUSA Executive Director stated, that the campaign reflects the dignity and respect skilled trades deserve. It will empower young people to develop professional and personal skills to become life leaders and succeed in their professional career.
On the other hand, Janet Ries, Vice President, Marketing, Carhartt, added that it is committed to build a better world and supporting those interested in a successful career in skilled trades.
