Tesla Inc. has reportedly released an upgrade to its software which can now consider temperature, headwind, crosswind, and humidity when calculating the vehicles’ battery percentage after reaching the destination.
The measurement is an addition to current factors including HVAC, predicted speed, current temperature, elevation changes, route, and distance. However, it is still unclear if this upgrade in a software is for any specific model of Tesla or all the EVs of the brand.
It is worth noting that electric vehicle battery consumption depends on plenty of factors such as driving behavior and weight among others. The higher the temperature and humidity the more battery it drains out which eventually results in a lower range for EVs.
Meanwhile, Tesla is also planning to set up its second Gigaplant in Indonesia. Initially, it intended to set up its unit in India but given the ongoing tax disputes, the company switched its preference to the other South Asian country.
The EV automaker giant will not set up its manufacturing unit in countries where selling and servicing of its vehicles are not allowed, Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed.
For those unaware, the Indian government has asked Tesla to submit its manufacturing plant’s plan for the country before offering any tax concessions on imports.
In other developments, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is reportedly looking into Elon Musk’s stake in Twitter Inc. In the letter to Musk, the regulator will inquire why Musk has not filed any required paperwork within 10 days of the acquisition of his stake.
Moreover, SEC also requested Musk to explain why he opted for the 13G disclosure form over the 13D, where the former is for investors planning to hold their shares passively and the latter is for activist investors who aim to influence the company’s management and policies.
