RadNet, an American radiology firm providing high-quality outpatient diagnostic imaging services affirmed that along with its newly formed partner Lenox Hill IPA LLC it has entered into a capitation agreement with EmblemHealth. The agreement apparently aims to make diagnostic imaging services available to some of its enrollees under the AdvantageCare Physicians group.
This is the first capitation agreement signed by RadNet on the East Coast. The contract reportedly states that RadNet will assume responsibility for imaging operations in AdvantageCare across 26 of its locations and upgrade and expand services in these 26 offices and existing RadNet locations throughout these local markets. As per the agreement, operations will commence from October 1,2018 and last for 5 years.
Dr. Howard Berger the Chairman and CEO of RadNet reportedly stated that this is a significant strategy for the company and there have been talks to bring back risk-based contracting to the East Coast for some time. For more than two decades, the company has enjoyed similar capitated partnerships with several big medical groups on the West Coast. He further stated that RadNet continues to believe that value-driven and performance-based health care are necessary to transform healthcare delivery system into a cost-effective and ubiquitous service.
Karen Ignagni, president, and CEO, EmblemHealth has been quoted to say that the partnership with RadNet will allow EmblemHealth and AdvantageCare physicians to provide high-end quality and valuable radiology experience to members and ACPNY patients. RadNet shares a long-standing commitment to population-based healthcare, value-based partnerships and technological innovation, added Ignagni.
For the record, RadNet has a network of 300 owned or operated outpatient imaging centers, with its core market being, California, Delaware, New York, New Jersey and Maryland. EmblemHealth is one of America’s largest non-profit health insurance and wellness company, that caters to 3.1 million patients across the New York tristate area. The firm offers quality and affordable health benefits through a choice of quality networks while leading the market with value-optimized delivery.
