Osram, a multinational high-tech lightening company, and Facility Solutions Group (FSG), a leading provider of building technology system design, integration, installation and managed services, have reportedly announced a collaborative partnership to provide turnkey smart building IoT solutions to the industrial, commercial, and retail sectors.
Sources close to the matter mentioned that as part of the partnership, FSG will provide Osram’s fixture-integrated sensors, controls, components and Encelium® Light Management System (LMS) to end users, including national accounts.
Supposedly, smart building IoT solutions take advantage of networked lighting systems as the technology infrastructure for applications beyond illumination and smart lighting that advance operational efficiencies, building occupant comfort, and sustainability profiles.
The strategic partnership with FSG further reveals Osram’s commitment to an emerging ecosystem that is closely supporting the digitalization of commercial space that builds smarter buildings, sources added.
Apparently, control modules and fixture-integrated sensors from Osram, which include the novel SensiLUM wireless integrated sensor, are available via OEM partners that are ONiX specification-ready and represent ideal data nodes on a smart lighting network, like the Encelium® Extend LMS. These nodes offer environmental and lighting data to be stored on Osram’s cloud platform.
Sources informed that this granulated data about the space is then retrieved by third-party analytics software developer partners providing SaaS technology for smart building applications.
Primarily, turnkey solutions from FSG will allegedly combine the Encelium light management system with a lighting suite that comprises fixture-integrated components from Osram, besides managing services and lighting system installation. Apart from this initial partnership, both the companies are planning to expand their combined efforts to include other effective solutions that further allow workplace enhancements and enable smart building applications.
According to CEO of Osram Digital Systems group, Tom Shottes, the collaboration with FSG will assist the company in delivering even more value to customers looking for a complete solution, mainly multi-location and national accounts. FSG has more than 33 locations and over 2000 employees, offering lighting, controls and building system expertise, he stated.
