Nexstar Media Group proclaimed on Thursday that they have accorded a 4-year deal with NBC to renew the NBC Television Network affiliations of their stations in over 21 stations across the U.S. The much-awaited deal boasts to expand their stations to over 12.5 mn homes—11.4% of U.S. TV households. While Mission Broadcasting owns three stations, two stations were lately acquired by Nexstar. Meanwhile, the previous affiliate deals were touted to terminate in December.
Perry Sook, Nexstar CEO was full praise for having partnered with NBC, yet again. Sook stated that new affiliation agreements were in line with network’s wide range of captivating news, entertainment and sports programming. He further commented that the agreement resonates with the viewers of the local communities and signifies the importance of their stations to NBC.
These agreements are a cornerstone and delineate the successful completion of necessarily all outstanding network affiliation renewals of Nexstar for 2019, inferred Sook. He further went on to add that Nexstar is working to set the deal on new distribution renewals acknowledging more than 70% of the company’s subscriber base. These distribution renewals and networks have added fillip to net retransmission revenues of Nexstar. That said, financial terms were not made public.
President of affiliate relations, NBC Broadcasting Phil Martzolf said that he was buoyed by the camaraderie with Nexstar and was eager to provide NBC programming to millions of households across the U.S.
NBC’s programming lineup includes NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, Today, prime time block busters, such as The Voice and This is Us; upcoming Tokyo 2020 Olympics and immensely popular live sports like NFL Sunday Night Football.
