Japan’s Murata Manufacturing Co. Ltd. will reportedly launch a service in Indonesia starting this April, that will offer traffic data to address the enduring traffic jams and encourage outdoor advertisements.
Murata's system uses LiDAR technology, which has better environmental adaptability in comparison to cameras, to adapt to varying analytical conditions, such as darkness or rain.
The system can generate traffic volume data and traffic data that segments vehicle-type information, like passenger cars and large vehicles, thanks to its high-precision sensing capabilities. This allows for targeted advertisements based on the desired time period and vehicle type data, such as displaying ads for particular goods for B2B targets during the commuting period.
The system's ability to map regional traffic volumes is expected to expand its use as a source of reference data for city planning, such as the development of shopping centers in high-traffic areas, sources cited.

As per reliable sources, the traffic counter system can be incorporated into existing facilities, such as streetlights and pedestrian bridges. Analytical data is provided through a dedicated cloud server, wherein it collects road traffic and environmental data with the aid of mounted sensors and offers real-time data as well as data processed using original algorithms.
