Freshtohome Foods Pvt. Ltd., an online meat and fish selling company based in Bengaluru, reportedly raised over $20 million in its Series B investment round led by Iron Pillar, a venture capital firm.
Freshtohome stated that Joe Hirao, a Japanese investor and founder of ZIGExN also took part in the investment round.
Previously, Freshtohome had raised $11 million three months ago in Series A investment round led by CE-Ventures, a venture capital arm of United Arab Emirates-based group, Crescent Enterprises. Freshtohome will utilize the new funds for its expansion in UAE and India and also to further diversify its product portfolio.
Freshtohome, which went offline recently, operates in nine cities across India which includes Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. The company claims to complete 14,000 orders each day and sells 20 tons of meat and fish daily. Freshtohome rivals with the likes of Zappfresh and Licious.
Shan Kadavil, the founder of Freshtohome was the India unit head at Zynga Inc., previously. He was also the creator of Farmville, a popular game between February 2010 and March 2015.
Kadavil is also the managing director and co-founder of Dbaux.com, which provides ConnectivityStation, a device that facilitates connectivity solutions to companies.
According to reports, Kadavil, a frequent customer of SeaToHome founded by Mathew Joseph, was sad about the platform being shut down. Kadavil thus decided to give a new life to the platform and relaunched SeaToHome as Freshtohome by the end of 2015, alongside a group of individuals from Zynga.
