Cooper Tire & Rubber Company, a renowned American manufacturing company specializing in automobile and truck tires, and Sailun Vietnam, a renowned manufacturing company that manages sales and replacement of tires, reportedly announced that their joint venture facility, ACTR has produced its first tire.
The ACTR facility is situated near Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Cooper owns a 35% stake in ACTR, which would be producing TBR (truck and bus radial) tires for several markets across the world.
The JV plant is expected to be completely operational and start manufacturing the tires on a commercial scale by early 2020. At its full operational capacity, the plant would be capable of manufacturing about 2 million tires annually.
Cooper Chief Executive Officer and President, Brad Hughes stated that cooperation between Sailun and Cooper has been exceptional, and the company thanks its partner Sailun for collaborating so closely with it over the past several months to build this facility.
Hughes added that this is another vital step in the company’s strategy to further diversify and expand the company’s TBR production globally. This step would give the company an additional capacity to vend quality Roadmaster TBR tires to consumers across the world.
President and Chairman of Sailun Group, Zhongxue Yuan stated that ACTR is a highly modern tire manufacturing plant that features the latest of technologies to drive efficiency and quality. The company thanks Cooper as well as others that were involved in the construction of the new facility for their excellent cooperation and support.
