DroneShield Ltd, a public Australian company, and Collins Aerospace systems, a United Technologies subsidiary affiliated with the Australian defense force, have reportedly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work together with the Australian military as well as on global prospects.

Apparently, the aim of the collaboration is to integrate DroneShield’s counter drone abilities with the surveillance systems offered by Collins that are already being utilized by its customers. Collins Aerospace reportedly holds a contract with the Australian Defense Force and is known for its supply of aerospace and defense products.

DroneShield produces a set of counter drone technologies adept in fortifying deployed groups and bases against threats coming from enemy drones.

Out of the several drones produced by the company, there are few prominent ones such as DroneSentry, a system that combines both detection and interdiction; DroneSentinel, a detecting drone system that is both multi method and a sensor fusion; RfPatrol, a detecting device that is worn on the body and DroneGun Tactical, a drone-mitigation device that is shaped as a handheld rifle.

Oleg Vornik, the chief executive officer of DroneShield remarked on the leading position of Collins Aerospace in Australia’s defense market and is pleased to work together with the latter on opportunities that he thinks will boost customer value.

DroneShield has reportedly updated its DroneShieldComplete software to firmware version 1.1 for counter drone systems of DroneSentry and DroneSentinel. One of the features of this update include spotting the pilot of the drones detected. This permits an additional feature where the customer can detain the pilots of the drones rather than directly neutralizing the drones.

The feature is believed to act as an advantage for customers who are unable to legally deploy countermeasure for drones and are better equipped to deal with the cause of the issues that are drone related.
