Axine Water Technologies, an on-site industrial wastewater treatment provider, headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, has reportedly signed a multi-year, multimillion-dollar agreement with a global pharmaceutical company after demonstrating their exceptional efficacy and cost-efficiency in treating and eliminating antimicrobial active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) in the manufacturing wastewater.
As per the agreement, Axine will design, build, own, and remotely operate the trunkey treatment system in order to reach a Predicted No-Effect Concentration standard measured in parts per billion levels in the receiving water body. This will ensure that there will be no adverse impact on the surrounding ecosystem.
CEO of Axine, Jonathan Rhone, expressed that this agreement is a noteworthy milestone for the company as its acceptance continues to grow in the pharmaceutical sector. Global pharmaceutical companies are eyeing for solutions that guarantee the discharged pharmaceutical wastewater comprising of antibiotics, hormones, antiparsitics, and other APIs do not pose a threat to humans or the environment, and Axine is very grateful to part of this project, he added.
Axine has developed a new standard for treatment of any complex organic pollutant in pharmaceutical wastewater by utilizing a combination of a breakthrough proprietary electrochemical technology and service model, cite sources familiar with the matter.
Rhone further added that the company’s business model forms long-term partnerships with the clients while reducing their capital expenditure and risk. By solving the problem at the source and reusing treated water wherever possible, the organization is helping customers not only reduce water consumption and environmental implications but to do so in a cost-competitive manner, he believes.
The Axine system is scheduled for installation in 2021 at the customer’s manufacturing plant located in eastern U.S., following which it will be completely automated and remotely operated and monitored through the data streamed to Axine's Network Operations Centre.
