Audio content platform NOICE raises USD 22 million in Series A funding

NOICE, an Indonesian audio content startup, has reportedly raised USD 22 million in Series A funding from Northstar, as well as existing investors Kinesys and Alpha JWC Go-Ventures.

The funds will be used to advance technology that aids in the adaptation of stories from local writers into audio format, content procurement, and improving the experience for both creators and users.

Patrick Walujo, managing partner and co-founder of Northstar Group, expressed his enthusiasm for working with NOICE and confirmed the company's aggressive expansion plans.

It is worth noting that NOICE differs from other audio streaming startups in that its primary focus is not only on music but also on a diverse range of other offerings such as radio, audiobooks, podcasts, and live audio.

Besides that, it features drama series crafted by Indonesian writers and collaborates closely with influencers to generate content in a variety of formats. As per company data, NOICE has a user base of 2 million, with everyday listeners spending roughly 80 minutes on their platform each day.

The company recently unveiled its audio creation platform, called 'Noicemaker Studio,' designed to motivate more creators to release their audio content directly on the platform. The portal currently has over 40,000 collections of content to engage its consumers.

In the same line, India's audio content startup Headfone mentioned to have raised USD 10 million in a Series B funding round spearheaded by Elevation Capital with added participation from Google executive Anshumani Ruddra, comedian Biswa Kalyan Rath, angel investors Ajit Mohan, and South Korean VC firm Hashed.

Notably, Headfone was formed in 2018 by former Facebook employees Yogesh Sharma and Pratham Khandelwal in trying to construct a streaming system that delivers audio content in various forms in Hindi, India's national language.
