Albertsons Companies LLC, a US-based grocery company recently announced an initiative to enhance its mobile application & online grocery shopping website, in order to benefit shoppers with visual impairments, cite sources.
The announcement came on the heels of an announcement made earlier to empower consumers with convenient & fast in-store checkout experiences by employing self-checkout system of Global Commerce Solutions by Toshiba.

Reportedly, the new plan is a result of partnership between Albertsons Companies & several visually impaired customers of the firm's family of grocery stores that includes Safeway, in a structured negotiation.
Ramiya Iyer, Group VP of IT, Albertsons Companies., was reported to state that ensuring a good shopping experience for the customers, is the company’s the highest priority. Ongoing web & mobile application accessibility enhancements to provide easy access to customers is a part of the priority.
